Economic Security & Social Protection Centre is a civil-society organization supporting people whose income is no longer enough to cover essential needs. It works with low-income households, unemployed people, workers in insecure or poorly paid jobs, disabled people, caregivers, migrants, pensioners, and families affected by debt, benefit delays, rising rents, energy costs, or sudden loss of income.
The Centre was founded on the principle that financial crisis is rarely caused by a single bad decision. Income insecurity often develops through the interaction of low wages, unstable work, high housing costs, illness, family responsibilities, inaccessible public systems, and unexpected expenses. Its work therefore combines immediate problem-solving with a broader rights-based understanding of poverty and social protection.
The organization provides plain-language information, benefits navigation, debt-triage guidance, budget preparation, referral support, and help with gathering documents for applications or appeals. It also connects people with specialist debt advisers, legal services, food-support initiatives, energy advisers, housing organizations, and emergency funds. The Centre is careful not to present budgeting as a cure for structural poverty or to imply that people can solve income gaps through personal discipline alone.
Its publications explain how to prioritize essential payments, respond to benefit decisions, prepare for creditor contact, identify unfair or exploitative financial products, and seek support before a temporary shortfall becomes eviction, utility disconnection, or long-term debt. The Centre also works with community organizations to improve referral pathways and reduce the humiliation people often experience when seeking help.
Its broader goal is to strengthen income security and make social protection understandable, timely, and accessible. It advocates for systems in which people can meet basic needs, challenge incorrect decisions, and recover from financial shocks without losing housing, health, dignity, or participation in community life.
