Next Generation Pathways
Youth Development And Education Nonprofit / Berlin, Germany
Über uns
Next Generation Pathways is a youth-development organization that helps young people navigate the transitions between school, further education, training, employment, and independent adulthood. Its work focuses especially on first-generation students, young migrants, and young people from communities that are underrepresented in universities, professional careers, leadership positions, and public decision-making.
The organization was founded on the recognition that talent alone does not determine who gains access to opportunity. Informal knowledge, professional networks, financial stability, family expectations, confidence, and a sense of belonging all shape whether a young person can take advantage of the options available to them. Next Generation Pathways therefore combines practical guidance with long-term relationship building.
Its programs include mentoring, career orientation, application support, leadership workshops, peer-learning groups, and encounters with professionals who can make unfamiliar paths more visible. Many mentors and facilitators share experiences similar to those of the participants. This allows the organization to address questions that conventional career advice often overlooks: how to enter spaces where no one in your family has been before, how to ask for help without feeling inadequate, and how to pursue ambition without losing connection to one’s community.
Next Generation Pathways also works with schools, employers, universities, and public institutions to improve access, recruitment, retention, and support structures. Its publications combine step-by-step guidance with personal stories, critical reflection, and practical tools.
The organization does not define success narrowly as obtaining a prestigious degree or job. Its broader goal is to help young people make informed choices, develop agency, build supportive networks, and participate confidently in the institutions that affect their lives. It seeks to make opportunity understandable, reachable, and sustainable rather than leaving young people to decode unfamiliar systems alone.
